Kendra Moore, CEO

Kendra founded Boston Fusion in November 2010, implementing her vision to become the government’s preferred provider of revolutionary artificial intelligence machine learning solutions. For her, the most interesting problems are those that require multi-disciplinary approaches to solve. Kendra established Boston Fusion to bring together smart, curious people to solve hard, complex national security problems, in a collaborative, collegial environment.

Prior to founding Boston Fusion, Kendra served as a DARPA Program Manager where she managed a $180M portfolio of programs focused on pattern learning, anomaly detection, context reasoning, network/graph analytics, and resiliency for applications ranging from maritime domain awareness, command and control, and human, social, cultural, behavioral awareness.

Kendra is passionate and curious by nature, with a wide range of interests. In addition to doctorate and master’s degrees in operations research, Kendra received undergraduate and master’s degrees in philosophy of religion. She loves to read, garden, cook and feed people, and is an avid amateur ornithologist. Kendra’s latest passion is training her golden doodle, Nico, though who is training whom is an open question.

As Chief Research Officer, Jamie is responsible for designing and leading Boston Fusion’s company-wide research strategy, enabling the team to develop revolutionary scientific solutions to national defense challenges. Jamie leads marketing and shaping efforts across the company, and provides senior-level mentorship on strategically important programs.

Jamie’s expertise comes from a long history in both academic and commercial defense research. As the Senior Director of Research Strategy at Arizona State University’s Global Security Initiative, she designed interdisciplinary research concepts, oversaw GSI’s large-scale research centers, and chaired the university’s DARPA Working Group. As a staff scientist at Lockheed-Martin’s Advanced Technology Center, Jamie directed projects in electro-optical and radar processing for military organizations that were recognized by the Pentagon for innovation and mission utility.

Jamie holds a B.S. in Physics from Arizona State University, an M.S. in Physics from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, and a PhD in Cybersecurity Policy from ASU. Her doctoral research focused on misaligned incentives in U.S. federal cybersecurity policy.

Jamie is a strong advocate of interdisciplinary research. She believes that honesty, creativity, and inclusion are critical to research success. Outside of work, Jamie runs the Call for Papers (CFP) at CactusCon, the largest annual hacking and security conference in Arizona. She also enjoys painting, woodworking, archery, and spending time with her family, which includes far more pets than is reasonable.

Jay is responsible for all aspects of proposal and project management, strategic planning, and technology portfolio and business development for Boston Fusion’s Multi-Domain Systems (MDS), Human-Machine Teaming (HMT), and Socio-Behavioral Analytics (SBA) business areas.

Jay has worked in a diverse range of industries focusing on the intersection of emerging theory, current practice, and people using actual products. He led and contributed to efforts at Schlumberger and United Technologies in transitioning research to engineering and manufacturing centers in coiled tubing, explosives handling, and robotic welding.

Jay holds a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering and an S.M. and Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from MIT. His doctoral research combined data and model-based methods to understand complex mechanical and dynamic phenomenology. Jay is a licensed mechanical engineer in Maine and Massachusetts and is an inventor with three patents.
Jay’s leadership style emphasizes prioritization and communication. He believes that occasional setbacks are an expected cost of research, but that a talented group can do amazing things when goals are clearly defined and supported.

Away from the office, Jay likes to spend time with family, run, and attempt household projects he is objectively underqualified for with his two small assistants.

Matthew Marshall, Director of Sentient Systems

Matthew is responsible for all aspects of proposal and project management, strategic planning, and technology portfolio and business development for Boston Fusion’s Sentient Systems Directorate, encompassing the Sensors and Fusion, and Socio-behavioral analytics pillars. 

Matthew has worked in a variety of different domains focusing on developing the next generation of technologies. At Radiation Monitoring Devices he refined commercial processes and worked to transition new and improved radiation detection materials into the hands of customers at the Department of Energy and Department of Defense.  

Matthew holds a B.ASc in Engineering Science from the University of Toronto, as well as a D.Phil (Doctorate) in Materials from Oxford University. His doctoral research focused on understanding the physics of surfaces using scanning tunnelling microscopy. Matthew also worked as a postdoctoral associate at Yale University developing new materials for novel electronic devices beyond silicon. Matthew’s leadership style emphasizes the growth that comes from tackling hard problems with an awesome group of teammates. He prioritizes communication and believes in removing obstacles so the team can do great things. 

Outside of work, Matthew enjoys vegetable gardening with his family, slowly undertaking various household projects and trying out new recipes.
